You have limited time in Marrakech, and cannot make it to the Saharan sand dunes in southern Morocco. But you can still take a short, alternative trip to the “Marrakech Desert”, Agafay for an impression of the emptiness and silence of the desert. Your pick up from your hotel/ riad, will be at 9 am for the drive to Agafay less than an hour away. The area around Agafay is rocky dry moon-like, offers unexpected and splendid views of the High Atlas Mountains. Snow-capped in winter. It is a mineral universe only disturbed by a few flocks of sheep pass by in their search for grass and herbs.

Here, even surrounded by such barrenness, frogs and turtles live and breed, whilst plants can also flourish in the Agafay desert, we enjoy a one -hour camel trek of about an hour. Great Day

Highly recommend this tour, it was the highlight of our day trip to Marrakesh. The tour guides Said and Housa were lovely. They were attentive and knowledgable, and looked after us really well for the trip into Desert and the high Atlas Mountains. We had an wonderful trek and an amazing home cooked, four course meal made by Hassan’s mother. It was fabulous with the view of Mt Toubkal. Agafay Desert Day Tour

Booked a day trip to the Atlas Mountains and Desert Agafay, was go glad I chose Visit Morocco Sahara. Stay away from the big tour operators, and go with someone local for a genuine experience of Moroccan culture. Said is a great guide, who will go out of his way to ensure you have a great day. The traditional Moroccan tagine cooked and served by a Berber family, in the Desert was wonderful. You will not regret booking with this tour company. Would give this 10 stars if I could.
