Pick up from your hotel in Fes at 8:00 AM and depart for the south of Morocco. You will have a stop in Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco, to enjoy its beauty and to have memorable photos. After that, you will head toward Azrou to see the monkeys in the cedar forest. Continuing to Midelt for a lunch meal in a restaurant.

In the afternoon, we will cross the pass of TIZI N TALGHAMT to reach Errachidia while admiring the views of Ziz gorges. Later on, you will have a stop for a panoramic view of Ziz valley. The drive continues to Erg Chebbi Dunes, passing by Aoufous and Erfoud (the last is famous with fossils and dates) where you may want to visit a local fossil craft workshop. After that you will continue to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi, these dunes are called also Merzouga Dunes. Dinner and spend the night in a room in a hotel/Auberge next to the dunes.

Second day of your 3 days Fes to Merzouga Desert Tour. This morning after breakfast in the Auberge, you will have a tour of the dunes, on 4×4 allowing you to visit the black volcanic rocks of marble fossils, visit a nomad family living in a tent, then visit Khamlia village famous with black people and entertainment with their spiritual music of Gnawa. You will have a break for lunch in Merzouga or Hassi Labied.

After lunch, we will see the canal irrigation system, and have a walk on the oasis located on the foot of the dunes. Continue to your hotel to relax and get ready for a camel trek, for an hour and a half to enjoy the sunset. While on the back of your dromedary, you will continue to the camp for an overnight in a traditional nomad tent. Dinner and spend the night in a bivouac in the middle of the dunes.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert Back to Fes or Travel to Marrakech

Hassan was our driver and tour guide, and he went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience, as we drove from Fes to Erg Chebbi. He was very flexible in making stops where and when we wanted, and his English is perfect. He is the real gem. The desert experience is definitely luxurious so don’t worry – it’s more like glamping. 1. WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLES ARE USED?This is a great question! At “Visit Morocco Sahara” vehicle comfort is so important. That’s why we use Toyota Prado Land Cruiser Tx, Ford 8 seater van, Mercedes Benz sprinter minibus for groups of more than 8 people, and many other comfortable vehicles.

2. HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK THE TOUR?

We recommend booking as soon as you know the dates.

3. HOW DO I TAKE MY LUGGAGE TO THE CAMP?

When your camel trek starts, a 4×4 vehicle will carry your luggage. So, you find your luggage once you arrive the camp. 4. IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE VEGETARIAN OR VEGAN FOOD? Yes, it’s possible to provide vegetarian or vegan food. Please let your driver/guide know in the morning of the first day.

5. I DON’T WANT TO RIDE A CAMEL, HOW DO I REACH THE CAMP?

If you don’t want to ride a camel, we’ll take you by a 4×4 vehicle to the camp. 6. IS THE SANDBOARDING INCLUDED? Yes, sandboarding or sand surfing is included . Please, let your driver/guide know if you’re interested in sandboarding. He’ll make sure you get a board once you get to the camp, because there’re just a few boards.

7. HOW DO I PAY FOR THE Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour?

First, we ask for a small deposit to be paid via PayPal to our account. Second, the rest of the payment cash, and should be paid to our driver/guide in euros or dollars, or equivalent in dirhams on the first day.

How cold is it during the night in the desert?

In the winter, the desert gets quite cold at night (temperatures can drop to around 0). Warm blankets will be provided, but we recommend that you bring warm sleeping clothes. How long is camel ride in Merzouga dunes?The camel trek lasts for about 1 hour, depending on the season, daylight, etc.
